Overall Thoughts:

The Audio Technica ATH-M50x and the Sennheiser HD558 is definitely two of the best headphones under $200! They are both great for any use such as gaming, video editing, or listening to music. There is only a couple of differences that separate these headphones and one of them is comfort. The Sennheiser HD 558 is more comfortable in my opinion and you can wear them for hours. The Audio Technica is a little uncomfortable to wear after about 2 hours. The sound and design are the other main differences. The Audio Technica ATH-M50x is a closed back design and the Sennheiser HD558 is an open back design. Since the HD558 is an open back design, it will leak sound. So if you're sitting in an office, other people would be able to hear noise coming from your headphone. While the ATH-M50x has a closed back design which is great for noise isolating from the outside and the sound does not leak. The Audio Technica ATH-M50x has a little more bass that is very tight and punchy. This is really good for music such as rap, rock, electronic, and EDM. The Sennheiser has great tight bass as well but it is a little more lean. The Sennheiser HD558 shines when it comes to vocals and instruments. You can hear instruments you might have not heard before and the vocals sound as if you were next to the artist while recording. Both of these headphones are fantastic and you can't go wrong with either one of them. I would say if you plan on using the headphone at home for hours while video editing, playing games, or watching movies, then the Sennheiser HD558 would be a great option. If you're going to be on the go and also using the headphones for about 2 hours, then the Audio Technica ATH-M50x would be a great option.
