Overall Thoughts:

The ACER XB271HU and the ASUS PG279Q are two very popular gaming monitors. I bought the ACER XB271HU on sale for $679 dollars and I bought the ASUS on sale for $699 dollars on sale. Both are 27inch IPS monitors with up to 165hz refresh rate, once overclocked in the menu, 4ms response time, and they both have the g-sync technology which helps eliminate screen tearing while gaming. As far as performance goes, both of these monitors are phenomenal! I gamed on both of them and they both performed exactly the same. With the g-sync technology and the 165hz refresh rate, gaming is so smooth and honestly its an incredible gaming experience. Especially if you are coming from a 60hz monitor, you will notice a huge difference. I really like that both of them are IPS monitors because with IPS, you get great color accuracy when viewed in different angles and the colors stay consistent. You also get great color reproduction which looks absolutely fantastic. In return, you are getting 4ms response time, but unless you're a super serious gamer and you do competitions, Its not a big deal and 4ms is really good. Especially having an IPS monitor in return is worth it! I do want to mention that when I maxed out the brightness on both of these monitors, the ASUS look brighter than the ACER. Now if you're trying to decide which one to get, I would say it comes down to the physical design. Both of the monitors perform exactly the same so if you know which design you like better than you have your answer. I personally like the design the the ASUS because I really like the RGB lighting and I think it looks really cool.

Now if you like both designs and you are more price driven. The ACER was a tad bit cheaper on sale for $679 dollars where the ASUS was $699 dollars on sale. Now when it comes to backlight bleeding, the ACER had a little bit at the bottom middle of the screen and the ASUS had more backlight bleeding in all of the corners. Paying such a high price for these monitors, you would really like to get great overall quality. Its not a huge concern because you can always swap it out for another one and if that one has backlight bleeding as well then you will have to swap it out again until you get a solid monitor. The only problem with that is the annoying process of having to put everything back in the box and taking it to the store etc. When it comes to backlight bleeding it all varies. For example, if you go buy both of these monitors, your situation might be different and your ACER might have more backlight bleeding than your ASUS. So after researching, reading reviews, and getting feedback, this is what I have gathered. There has been a little more feedback on ASUS with the quality control issues with people having backlight bleeding. Now I don't want to put too much pressure on the ASUS because you could buy an ACER and it could have backlight bleeding as well. The best way to say it is that the ASUS might have a little more chance of having backlight bleeding compared to the ACER. Now again this all varies but the best thing to do is buy these in stores so that way when you get it, you can test it for backlight bleeding and dead pixels and if you have issues, you can return it or swap it out for another one. Overall all both of these monitor are fantastic with high end specs which creates an amazing gaming experience!
