Overall Thoughts:
I bought the HyperX Cloud Flight for $160 dollars and it supports PC, and consoles, but for the Xbox One, you can't use it as a wireless gaming headset and have to use a 3.5mm cable which is included in the box. So this is the first wireless gaming headset from HyperX and these are definitely very impressive but on the market right now, there are other wireless gaming headsets that are just as impressive so does the HyperX Cloud Flight stand out and is it worth $160 dollars? Let's find out!
When it comes to the design, majority of the build is made out of plastic but it doesn't come off cheap and it still maintains a solid feel and overall looks pretty nice but a tad bit on the plain side. On the earcups, it has a red led light with the HyperX logo which is really cool and right above that it has this red wire which feels firm and on the top headband, it's pretty much all black with the HyperX logo in the middle. The microphone is pretty cool and is detachable and it also bends in different angles so you can adjust based on your personal preference. The mic sounds pretty clear with a good amount of details and they are very impressive.
When it comes to the range, you get around 30ft and still maintain a solid connection. Now the battery life is advertised around 30 hours with the LED light off and 18 hours with the LED breathing mode and 13 hours with the lights constantly on. Now If the battery runs out, you can’t use these wirelessly while it’s charging only with the USB adapter plugged in. You can also still continue using these through a wired connection if the battery runs out, but the mic and volume wheel won’t work. So couple of things to note, there isn't a way to indicate the battery life, the only indication is that it beeps once it’s below 20%. Second, there is no software that comes with it where you can adjust the EQ and other settings.
When it comes to comfort, the HyperX Cloud Flight are pretty lightweight and very very comfortable with little to no clamping force and you can easily wear them for hours and hours. The ear cushions are made out of faux leather and the memory foam feels really soft and when it sits on your ears, it's very comfortable and provides a really nice stable fit. Overall, I would say these are definitely one of the most comfortable gaming headsets.
When it comes to the sound quality, these have 50mm drivers and provides great clarity, detailed mids and highs and a really lean tight punchy bass. These are not bass heavy but at the same time it doesn't have a small amount of bass so it's right there in the middle. When you use these for gaming, it is absolutely amazing! When you play first person shooter games, you can easily pinpoint enemy footsteps as they get closer to you which creates a little competitive edge over the competition. Also, Games such as tomb raider and assassins creed sound incredible because there is so much clarity and for example, natures scenes with waterfalls, bonfires or snow sound so crisp and clean with a lot of detail. For music, these are pretty balanced and sound great with all types of music. The sound stage is spacious where you can hear the instruments and vocals so clearly and the bass is clean and tight and it definitely has its presence when you listen to music such as rap, rock, and edm.
So the HyperX Cloud Flight is very impressive and has a lot of areas where it shines so there's really not much to complain about. The only thing that I'm not a huge fan of is the design and build. The design looks a little plain and laid back. Also, it feels a little flimsy when it comes to the build for example, when you turn the earcups side to side, it feels like you can break them if you put too much pressure on them. So I wish they would of improved in that because it's really important to stand out and be unique when it comes to gaming headsets, especially when you look at some of the competition such as the Steelseries Arctis 7 Wireless Gaming Headset which has great sound quality and is very comfortable with an awesome sleek design for $100 whenever it goes on sale. Now I do want to mention the Arctis 7 have less bass and more clarity. Aside from the design and build, these really do make up in a lot of other areas and are definitely very impressive. Overall these are a great wireless gaming headset that provides outstanding comfort and sound. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a wireless gaming headset and are a fan of HyperX and you like the design then these would be fantastic option!
