Overall Thoughts:
The Logitech MX sound 2.0 are a great set of computer speakers with great features! I bought these on sale for $80 dollars and they usually go for $100 dollars when it's not on sale. These are definitely impressive and have some areas where they shine but when it comes to PC speakers, there are a ton of other options on the market. So does the Logitech MX sound 2.0 computer speakers stand out and are they the best wireless speakers? Let's find out!
So first up, the design. On the front, the Logitech speakers has a ring shape circle look to them which is continued on the back as well. On the back you have a smaller ring shape circle which is the bass port. Since the Logitech MX sound is a 2.0 desktop speaker setup and it doesn't have a dedicated subwoofer, the smaller circle bass port is the substitute. With the color on these Logitech speakers, it has a silver and black-ish finish which looks really sharp and has a clean finish. On the front of the MX speakers, it has a siver-ish fabric material which look nice. Overall from a design standpoint, these look sleeks and come off as a high quality set of PC speakers. As far as the inputs, on the back of the right speaker you have a 3.5m aux input as well as a 3.5m PC input, the RCA, power, and lastly the 3.5m audio out headphone port.
When it comes to features, On the front of the right speaker, it has a motion sensor and when you wave your hand near it, it lights up. With the interface on the front, it has the volume control as well as the Bluetooth connectivity. So next, with the 4.1 Bluetooth, you can connect two devices and you can easily switch devices with the easy-switch feature. The way you change devices is by simply pausing it on your phone for example and then when you press play on another devices such as PC, it will start playing and you can continue listening. Here is a quick demonstration. This is a fantastic feature, and the easy-switch is very simple and easy, this is definitely one of the areas where the Logitech MX sound 2.0 stands out. With the MX sound, you have a couple of ways to connect to your devices. You can connect to your devices by plugging in a 3.5 mm aux cable which is included in the box or use the Bluetooth connectivity. What's really unique about the Bluetooth connectivity is that you can pick these up and go into another room and plug in the power, and continue using them. For the range, on Logitech's website it says 25 meters which equals out to 82 feet and I would say that's pretty accurate.
So after doing a sound test in the video, let's talk about how it performed. These have 24 watts peak output and 12 watts RMS. So after spending time watch movies, listening to music as well as gaming, I would say these have detailed mids and highs, and great clarity, with a lean tight punchy bass. Since the Logitch MX sound is a 2.0 setup and it doesn't have a dedicated subwoofer, these are not bass heavy. The bass does have it's presence but it doesn't have that rumbly boomy sound. Instead you get more clarity and a cleaner sound. When it comes to music, these sound best with music with instruments and vocals. Rap, rock, and edm, might not sound the best because there's not a lot of bass but if you prefer more clarity for those types of music, then you will be impressed. After doing a sound test, I would say the clarity is sharp and produces great accuracy and details. These sound best with music that has more vocals and instruments and when you listen to those type of music, you get a nice soundstage where you can hear a lot of details and the vocals and instruments sound crisp and clean. If you're ok with not having a lot of bass, then these will sound great with all types of music. Vocals and instruments is applied for movies as well. For movies such as the Avengers or Captain America, these don't sound the best because those movies have a lot of bass. So for example, When the hulk lands on the ground, the bass would usually rumble or when Iron Man starts blasting people with his hand, you would usually hear the bass booming which creates a more exciting movie experience in my opinion. This goes for gaming as well and when you play games such as Battlefield or Call of Duty, you don't feel that BOOM sound when you throw a grenade and it explodes. This might not be an issue for some because the sound is all personal preference. Some may prefer more clarity and overall a cleaner sound while others prefer more bass.
