Overall:

The LG 32GK850G-B is an amazing gaming monitor with great features and high end specs! I bought this on sale for $650 and it can usually cost anywhere from $800-$900 depending on the sale. It has a 31.5inch screen with a VA panel and a resolution of 2560x1440, an aspect ratio of 16.9 with 144hz refresh rate which can also be overclocked to 165hz, 5ms response time, and it also has the g-sync technology which helps eliminate screen tearing for a faster and smoother gamelplay. Right now, there are so many gaming monitors on the market and it can be a little challenging deciding which one to get. The LG 32GK850G-B is very impressive with high end specs and has areas where it really shines, but is it worth $650 dollars and should you buy it or should you invest your money in another gaming monitor? Let’s find out.

When it comes to image quality, the colors are definitely impressive for a VA panel but there are a couple of two to consider, the resolution and the VA panel. With the resolution of the LG32GK850G-B being 2560x1440, typically you see that more on 27inch monitors because that resolution is a better fit and the image is going to look more sharper and detailed. So since this is a 31.5 inch monitor, the screen is a little more stretched out which stretches out the image and can look a little pixelated. So the second thing to consider is the VA panel. Typically there are three panels, TN vs VA vs IPS. With a TN panel, the screen can produce a slight yellowish tint and it doesn’t produce the best color accuracy and color reproduction, and viewing angles don’t look the best because if you view it from different angles, the colors can look a little washed out.

A VA panel is basically a little improvement from a TN panel but still not as good as an IPS panel. An IPS panel produces the best color accuracy and color reproduction, and colors stay consistent from all angles and it doesn’t produce a yellowish tint. Now the resolution and the VA panel are not really a huge factor when it comes to gaming especially if you play fast person shooter games. The only time you might notice a difference is if you play games such as Assassins Creed or Tomb Raider because those games have a lot of nature scenes such as waterfalls, flowers and trees etc. Now if you’re not super picky on the resolution because you don’t really look out for things like that, then this might not be an issue. Also, one thing to note, since the resolution is a tad bit under specd for the size of the screen and everything looks a little bigger on the screen compared to let’s say a 27inch monitor with the same 1440p resolution which is a better fit for the screen but this is not a huge concern, just something to note.

Gaming on this monitor, the LG32GK850G-B is absolutely amazing and so much fun! So with this monitor, you’re getting 144hz refresh rate which can be overclocked to 165hz and you want to make sure to use a display port cable to achieve that, 5ms response time, and the g-sync technology. With all of that combined, it creates an outstanding gaming experience with smooth gameplay and no screen tearing or stuttering and if you’re coming from a 60hz monitor, you will be blown away with the performance and notice a huge difference because high refresh rate monitors are really fun to game with. As far as GPU requirements, I would recommend at GTX 1070, 1080 or a 1080ti and with the 1070, you might have to lower the settings a bit depending on the game, so you can achieve 165hz.

Overall the LG 32GK850G-B is a fantastic gaming monitor with high end specs and great features such as the LED Sphere, and gaming is incredible! It’s definitely an improvement from the LG 34UC89G-B gaming monitor, which is a 34inch ultrawide with an IPS panel with high end gaming specs but the only catch is, that one has a resolution of 2560x1080. That is why the LG32GK850G-B is definitely very impressive because it has a bigger screen and a better resolution with 1440p instead of 1080p with all the high end specs a gamer would like. I would recommend this monitor to anyone who has an NVIDIA graphics card so you can benefit from the g-sync technology, and looking for a gaming monitor to increase your immersive experience and you're fine with the image quality because you’re not going to be doing any serious photo editing and will be using this primarily for gaming and it’s within your budget, then this would be a fantastic monitor and I think you will really like it!
