BenQ ScreenBar e-Reading LED Task Lamp Review - Save Space & Light Up Your Desk!

Overall: The BenQ ScreenBar e-Reading LED Lamp is an amazing source of lighting for your desk! This is a LED lamp that retails for $100 dollars and it sits on top of your monitor producing great lighting for your desk without taking up any space. So BenQ reached out to me and asked if I was interested in reviewing this led lamp and to share my thoughts and opinion. I found out that this is actually a very popular product in Taiwan and it also won the Taiwan Excellence Gold Award in 2018. So the BenQ ScreenBar e-Reading LED lamp is definitely very impressive with awesome features that stands out but is it really worth $100 dollars and should you buy it? Let’s find out!

In the box, it comes with the screenbar lamp, the clip attachment, and the USB power cable. Setting it up is really easy, all you do is get the clip and attach it to the screenbar lamp by rotating it until it locks into place and you want to make sure the USB port is showing through the back opening. From there all you do is plug in the micro usb in the back of the screenbar lamp and plug the other end to your PC. As far as the design, the BenQ ScreenBar e-Reading LED lamp is mainly made out of plastic and has an all-black finish. On this bottom part, you have the BenQ logo which looks sleek and the overall design looks really nice! Once everything is setup and you put the lamp on top of the monitor, the clip will sit on the edge of the screen providing a nice stable fit with the bottom part resting on the back of the monitor.

As far as if the BenQ ScreenBar e-Reading LED Lamp will fit different monitors, it shouldn’t be much of a problem and should fit majority of monitors. For example, as seen in the video, there is a 34 inch ultrawide and the lamp fits nicely without any issues. The only thing is, it sits a little to the left because the back part of this particular monitor comes outwards in the middle so the lamp sits a little to the left where the surface is flat. You can also put a webcam on top of the screenbar lamp without any issues and it provides a nice stable fit. Also, you can rotate the lamp 20 degrees so it can either point more towards the screen or towards your desk. One thing to note here is that if lamp is pointed towards the screen, it will reveal any dust that it has. This is not a huge concern, just something to note.

On the screenbar lamp, you have 4 buttons, the power, auto dimmer, manual dimmer, and HUE adjustment. With the manual dimmer, you can adjust the brightness and the lamp is pretty bright at its highest level and at its lowest level, it produces a nice calm light that’s very easy on the eyes especially for nighttime. Next, with the HUE adjustment button, you can adjust the color temperature from 2700K to 6500K which basically goes from bright white to warm yellow. Next, you have the Auto dimmer and it automatically adjusts the brightness based on how much light you have in your environment.

So there are a couple of things that I really like about this LED lamp First one is how simple it is. You just put it on top of your monitor and plug in the USB and you have really nice lighting all over your desk. This BenQ Lamp is really impressive and it doesn’t take up any space on your desk and also produces a lot of lighting. This is a huge plus especially for those that either have a lot of stuff on their desk or running a dual or triple monitor setup. Next what I really like is being able to adjust the color temperature. Which is actually blue light on the spectrum suppresses the production of melatonin in the brain which is the chemical that helps your fall asleep at night. So being able to adjust to the color temperature to yellow is really nice because it doesn’t affect melatonin reproduction and it’s also easier on the eyes at night. This is a really cool feature especially for those that work, study, or even game late at night.

Overall, the BenQ ScreenBar e-Reading LED Lamp is a fantastic product and if you have the budget and you usually spend a lot of time working at your desk and looking for lighting that doesn’t take up space, then this is a wonderful options and I think you will really like it!
